چکیده

Software Defined Networking (SDN) has been recently introduced as a new communication paradigm in computer networks. By separating the control plane from the data plane and entrusting packet forwarding to straightforward switches, SDN makes it possible to deploy and run networks which are more flexible to manage and easier to configure. This paper describes a set of extensions for the INET framework, which allow researchers and network designers to simulate SDN architectures and evaluate their performance and security at design time. Together with performance evaluation and design optimization of SDN networks, our extensions enable the simulation of SDNbased anomaly detection and mitigation techniques, as well as the quantitative evaluation of cyber-physical attacks and their impact on the network and application. This work is an ongoing research activity, and we plan to propose it for an official contribution to the INET framework.

A Comparative Review: Accurate OpenFlow Simulation Tools for Prototyping

Several Simulation and emulation tools such as the OMNeT++ INET Framework and Mininet have been developed to evaluate the performance of Software-Defined Networking (SDN). A major challenge is how to analyse the obtained performance results of data transmission for these tools. These challenges include scaling to large networks, testing the correctness and evaluating the performance with the ab...

An OpenFlow extension for the OMNeT++ INET framework

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a new paradigm for communication networks which separates the control plane from the data plane of forwarding elements. This way, SDN constitutes a flexible architecture that allows quick and easy configuration of network devices. This ability is particularly useful when networks have to be adapted to changing traffic volumes of different applications runnin...

A New IEEE 802.15.4 Simulation Model for OMNeT++ / INET

This paper introduces a new IEEE 802.15.4 simulation model for OMNeT++ / INET. 802.15.4 is an important underlying standard for wireless sensor networks and Internet of Things scenarios. The presented implementation is designed to be compatible with OMNeT++ 4.x and INET 2.x and laid-out to be expandable for newer revisions of the 802.15.4 standard. Keywords—IEEE 802.15.4, Simulation Model, OMNeT++

Enhancement of the TCP module in the OMNeT++/INET framework

The INET framework for the simulation tool OMNeT++ provides a TCP module, which can be used for evaluating various Internet applications. However, the implementation of this TCP module has not been state of the art. Some important features of modern TCP implementations – particularly Selective Acknowledgements (SACK) and a complete Flow Control – have been missing. In this paper, we first intro...

OBS network model for OMNeT++: a performance evaluation

Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is an optical switching technology capable of supporting large demands for bandwidth in optical backbones with Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). This paper presents an OBS simulation model for the discrete event simulator OMNeT++. The performance of this model is compared with the performance of the well-known INET simulation model for IP networks. Both model...
